My friend and brother Davis shared news of the death of a Portuguese Billionaire and his daughter’s eulogy which said:
We are a millionaire family, but my father died alone and suffocated, looking for something as simple as air. The money stayed at home.
Then Davis rhetorically asked: BUT WHAT IS MONEY…REALLY?
Here is what I have to say: Money is vanity that keeps us away from what really matters as we give excuses. Money is NOTHING that is overrated as SOMETHING. Money is a thief that robs us of our exact identity and we end up named after it. Money breaks down the authentic pole we lean on and replaces the accurate ground our lives stand. Eventually, it makes us believe that we NEED it not only to THRIVE but even to SURVIVE. After money succeeds in its indoctrination, it flies like all vapor and leaves us in space gasping for air.
The well-thinking members of our societies must understand that MONEY is not IMPORTANT but URGENT. They must establish it doctrinally that money is not a NEED (something we cannot live without) but a WANT (something we can live without).
THE FEAR OF MONEY
It high time we are set free as captives of money and we overcome the fear it has instilled in each of us. In fact we have to be greatly afraid of the presence of money and what it can make us believe & do than we are afraid of its absence.
We have to understand that no postmortem report reads the cause of anyone’s death as the LACK OF MONEY. We don’t eat money, we eat food. However, money is the demon that stands between us and food. The bad news is that our fellow men are the supporting pillar that holds money between the needy and the resources.
It is now common knowledge that no amount nor currency of money is right and enough to secure anyone’s safe future… Those in a first class section and those in the cargo section of a plane are in the same plane. They reach at the same time, at the same airport, with the same pilot. Even private jets are subject to designated public routes.
Let us not entertain the fear of money in our hearts. The fear of its absence must be put in check, as well as the honor of its presence. We have to remember that MONEY MAKES REAL SENSE TO ONLY THOSE WITHOUT IT. Those who have real money will always involve themselves in tangible transactions, like sell me one of your kidneys and the those without money will give a kidney or a piece of land for paper money.
MONEY IS A TOOL
Money is a great want. It is a Hoe not the Garden. A hoe as a tool is useless without a field to work in. We have to capture the philosophy of a TOOL and not apply the right tool to a wrong field.
Money is a tool, it is something you ought to use. Unfortunately, money has enslaved us enough to the extent that we have switched identities and roles with money. Now money is the MASTER and we are the TOOLS. WE NO LONGER use MONEY BUT MONEY USES US. We are in a generation where you can’t ask how much money one has used but rather how much money has used you? And let me actually take this opportunity to ask you individually, HOW MUCH HAS MONEY USED YOU?
How many relationships have you lost because of money? When was the last time you spent time with your children, your spouse and your parents? Or is it a planned vacation and you cannot make time in violation of the schedule since TIME IS MONEY?
What are the unethical paying businesses that you are involved into? Cancer, H. I. V, Vaccines, Nuclear, and pharmaceuticals big financial enterprises where we create a virus to make money off the antidote we create in the same lab. Isn’t it a way money is using us instead of us using it?
When someone pays another person to have sex with his dog, or child, annal and oral sex or even any sort of Pornography, is the worker really used and abused by the other person or it money as the master turning human beings into TOOLS?
When a law enforcer doesn’t bring the violators of the same law into the books of account but takes money from them, who is using who? Okay, let me flip it and ask the one who gives bribe, when you pay to survive the penalties of your crime, isn’t money using and nurturing the criminal you since it dupes you into thinking you can always get away with it?
How is money using you recently? How has it affected your attitude and perception? How has it tuned your speech pattern? Who is THE TOOL between you and money?
THE 3Fs
In life there are 3Fs that actually matter and to be honest these are my constant prayer requests. I pray and watch my FAITH, I struggle for my FAMILY and have messed up often trying to constitute one, and am trying hard to earn FINANCES and make sure am financially comfortable. In fact, one of the core belief systems of fellowship is WORKING TO EARN.
I don’t consider poverty as a natural disaster or even an accident but rather as a sin and organized crime against humanity. I insist we WANT (not NEED) finances for a proper functionality of our daily lives in such an economic system. However, I also insist that money should be kept in its rightful place and that is as THE MOST WANTED TOOL to use not to use us.
I honestly hope that next time you are faced with the choice to either attend to your FINANCES or FAMILY & FAITH you will be bold enough to choose as a priority the latter (FAMILY or FAITH).
In life there are 3Fs that matter:
- FAITH
- FAMILY
- FINANCE
The above is a chronology of importance and necessity. You don’t need your FAMILY as you need your FAITH and neither do you need your FINANCES as you need your FAMILY.
The Bible doesn’t ask us to avoid money, but rather it asks us to avoid FALLING IN LOVE (Phyraguria) WITH MONEY = 1Timothy 6:10. Love is but a business of self-denial and a sacrificial discipline. We are asked by the divine Word not to deny SELF (who we are) for money. We are not to lose ourselves for money. That is why Jesus asked: What shall it profit for a man to gain the whole world but loose his soul? (Mark 8:36). The Bible says: For God so love the world that he gave his only begotten son to die (John 3:16). That is what love does, when people love money, they even give their own children for money. When people fall in love with money, they exercise what I call ‘THE LOGIC OF A PROSTITUTE‘ where someone transacts their body with money but with hopes to save and secure their body in the transaction. What a stupidity!!!
Our lord and MASTER Jesus Christ asked us not to FALL IN LOVE WITH MONEY but rather TO MAKE FRIENDS WITH MAMMON (Luke 16:9) and he meant us using money as a tool to a greater goal rather than money it self.
God bless you I invoke Truth, Wisdom and Faith (2Tim 2:7)
