Reading chapter one of the book of Daniel, one easily sees how the attention is on the Youth and less on any other age bracket. The Leadership of Babylon, the then superpower, understood the significance of the youth. This superpower understood that the future of their reign and power lay in the hands of the youths.
However, these leaders were smart enough to understand that it was not for every youth but for particular youths.
They did a screening throughout the region and selected both from the citizens and the exiles, and the qualifications were: only those who are smart, strong and healthy. It is these that the king is concerned with. These are the future of the nation.
How these youths THOUGHT/REASONED and what they ate had an implication not just on themselves but on the future of the nation as well. This is why their reasoning capacity and their eating/consumption habits are key.
When you read from the Jewish perspective, you might be easily be swayed to read Daniel chapter one in the lens of Leviticus chapter 11, however, in Babylon, it is not a matter of dietary restrictions but rather an issue of palace sobriety.
There is a way those who are to be the next leaders think and there are particular foods and beverages for them.
Let me use examples far and near for you to understand why the modern youth agenda is recorded in our Bible already.
The first thing Babylon did to the youth was to subject them to a particular curriculum.
The government of Babylon had captured youths and they knew if these youths were not brainwashed and indoctrinated into the philosophies of Babylon, they will rise against the nation and take it. The first item on the agenda, therefore, was to ensure that these youths are trained, educated and processed through the academia of Babylon. This was not only academia but an entire social theory like that of the modern UNESCO.
What happened in Daniel chapter 1 is what is happening today in our world. We are all processed through a curriculum that is prepared and organized by the existing superpowers and we have been taught how and what to think. When you look at our academia critically, you will understand that we need education emancipation more than the women emancipation we crave for.
The second thing that governments focus on is what the youth eat because they know that is what drives them. If the youths are to be the leaders now or in the future, they need to be careful with what they eat, drink and smoke.
I can give several examples, but let me mention only two. KENYANS STILL REMEMBER THE BOY UHURU KENYATTA, THE DRUG ADDICT and the modern HIS EXCELLENCY.
Ugandans remember the DRUGGED CRAZY BOBI WINE and today’s honorable member of parliament, Kyagulanyi Sentamu. I could go on and on and mention many more in Africa and beyond, but here is the thing.
The government of Babylon, the then superpower, understood the significance of the youth factor and I can tell you, the modern superpowers do understand and have a YOUTH AGENDA. Every place where a revolution has happened and the governments are overthrown, it has been the youths in charge.
The modern youths who don’t read and neither participate in sober discussions but are glued on social media and the internet for movies, music, and porn are the modern deciding factor of where the nation heads.
We need to help re-educate our educated youths who have been indoctrinated and move around with hyped confidence of I KNOW WHAT AM DOING AND I KNOW WHAT AM SAYING.
We need preachers and priests like myself to up our game and teach the youths the fear of the one true God for that is the beginning of wisdom.
Governments and superpowers should stop looking at the youths as a raw material for their (Governments) agendas and desires but as real people who represent the existence and future of the nation.
Young men in Africa are hyped to fight their leaders by foreigners. While the overstayed leaders have messed up in their leadership, to a large extent it has happened because these African Governments are mere constituents of the superpower countries who determine what to be done. Now Africa (read poor and weak countries) is in exile and it is a pity for captives to start fighting themselves amidst captivity. What I see in Africa’s (read poor and weak countries) political contest is two pupils competing to become the next class monitor in another’s school.
Today the incumbent is a captive and the next president to replace him will be the next captive of the same powers.
Why am I saying all this and where is it in the book of Daniel? Well, when you read the first six chapters of the book, you will discover that the only hope that is there for captives like us, is two-fold:
- IT IS IN THE KIND OF GOD WE WORSHIP
- IT IS IN THE KIND OF EDUCATION WE EMBRACE
A NATION WHOSE GOD HAS BEEN FRAMED AND FORMULATED BY ITS CAPTOR (Daniel 3) AND WHOSE EDUCATION HAS BEEN DESIGNED BY ITS CAPTOR (Daniel 1) IS DOOMED.
Now, do you see why am begging you to read your Bible again and again? It is the only ALTERNATIVE SYLLABUS THAT CAN HELP CONTEND THE EXISTING WORLDVIEW.
God bless you I invoke TRUTH, WISDOM, and FAITH (2Tim 2:7)
