GET GOD RIGHT

THE FIRST RULE

The question that cannot be answered is WHO IS GOD. Since we cannot answer the question, we are then left with only one alternative and that is to RESPOND to the question. Am not sure many people understand the difference between an ANSWER and a RESPONSE, but here is the simplest help you can ever get: An answer is a conclusion but a response is a process. So we cannot give an answer to the question that seeks to define who God is but we can continuously respond to the same question.

The concept of progressive revelation must not be perceived as a progress that progresses beyond and off the centre that holds but rather a progress like that around the Jericho walls. We walk around the same wall known as God until it falls. However, in real life, this God cannot be perceived at once but rather it is a lifetime business, and each and every event, experiment and experience of one’s life reveals something about the incomprehensible being known as God.

The reason theology is a logic about a theos is that the theos transcends the logic about him. In that very sense then, what we know about God is what the same God has revealed about himself. Let me put this out of the way, there is nothing to discover about God, he is not hidden and neither is he veiled for us to seek, search and find or discover. He is in fact everywhere and everything is in him (Genesis 1:1) that is what inconveniences us his content to comprehend him.

Getting God right begins from a point we confess that we are contained in him and therefore comprehending him at the level we comprehend apprehensible materials and spirits is an impossibility. It is for this reason that in our Christian Epistemology, we launch the tool known as BELIEF.

Belief in God is a declaration of mental defeat to explain a spiritual logic. It is only those who surrender their brilliance and not pretend like a scientist by saying ‘we don’t know why yet’ who advance their intelligence to the level of wisdom.

The first rule of GETTING GOD RIGHT then is not to know but to BELIEVE. So the next time you are asked; WHO IS GOD? Remember that is not a question that can be ANSWERED but one that can be RESPONDED TO.

God bless you I invoke TRUTH, WISDOM and FAITH (2Tim 2:7)
