I, Isaiah White Tumwine Mutabazi, have never declared myself as righteous. I am the chief of sinners (1Timothy 1:15) and very fallen. I am an advocate of salvation by grace through faith alone. I have tried, in the past, to do right but failed repeatedly (Romans 7). I am a preacher of the Gospel and have endeavoured throughout my preaching to preach against SIN and WRONG TEACHINGS.
I am always sympathetic with sinners not for any other reason but because even as a pastor I am one of them. I am a sinner too. Some have accused me of not correcting people but those who worship from the fellowship I minister to know how I address sinners.
To many, we the preachers of righteousness by Grace through faith are propagators of sinning. However, this is not true. We are not advocates of sinning. Real Righteousness by Grace preachers are absolutely opposed to sinning. However, what we call the world’s attention to is the impossibility of human beings doing right on their own or by any other means (sociological or religious rituals).
The Catholic Church presents their clergy as both physically (no crippled) and morally pure men, but as I type this today, the Catholic Church is spending millions of dollars in courts trying to ransom these men from the Law that has found them (holy men of the church) guilty of rape, paedophilia, and homosexual acts.
These are horrible things done by the holy and pure clergymen to whom sinners confess. Many people have been raped by men of God in counselling rooms. Pastors and Elders in the SDA church can only be understood properly by listening to the single ladies in the church as well as their wives. In just an election of a church office, men of god will do whatever it is to secure a church office from bribing, malicious lobbying to even shrines.
Recently, a leader (church elder) was found dead in the house of a side-dish and this was one of the elders who missed no Sabbath worship and he carried the entire set of the conflict series in every service. His body had to be carried from the house of the lady he was cheating with back to his matrimonial home for mourners.
This is how we are all fallen. We are helpless sinners in need of help. No amount of religious devotion, prayers, fasting, deliverance services or even right theology will save us from us. The problem is the sin that dwells in us (Romans 7:17, 20), sometimes we even act against not just the law we know but against our very selves (Romans 7:15).
We all lie under the body and it is the body of death. However much we try, we eventually mess up (Romans 7:24). We are sinners in need of help and that help cannot come from our religious rituals like bathing, praying five times a day, fasting, reading the whole Bible, etc, but can only come from Jesus Christ. Our sinning problem is not as moral as it is natural.
Sin is engraved on our hearts and that is why sinning is inevitable (Jeremiah 17:1). We can only clean ourselves outwardly (public impression) but the reality of who we are manifests in other ways. The Bible asks;
“Can the Ethiopian change his skin or the leopard his spots? Then also you can do good who are accustomed to do evil” (Jeremiah 13:23)
We are so fallen to the extent that even the righteous deeds we do are filthy rags in the sight of God (Isaiah 64:6). These are not verses justifying the failures and sinning of sinners but warning verses to all of us who want to act like Bugingo has always done.
He has always gone on air and castigated other pastors (sinners) in many ways that they have failed. He has attracted masses on the premise of comparison. I THANK THE LORD AM NOT LIKE THEM (Luke 18:9-14).
The Pharisee in this parable was right in all that he said about himself and about the tax collector, but all this that the Pharisee said were FACTS BUT NOT TRUTH.
It was a fact that the Pharisee paid the tithe, fasted four days a week, worshipped in the right church, worshipped the right God, etc. However, it was not TRUTH that he wasn’t an equal fallen sinner with the Tax collector.
Bugingo had many facts on the pulpit but the truth was that whenever he left the pulpit he went to Nantaba’s house and did not go back to his matrimonial home.
Even in the period of the 14 days of fasting, the brother went and slept with his new lovebird and came back the next day and conducted a successful lunch hour when he delivered facts.
Now don’t look at the brother as evil, I just want you to look at a gracious God we worship. God with all these details still does not strike sinners like me Isaiah White on the pulpit when we are posing like we have fallen from heaven castigating fellow sinners.
I want you to imagine if God was like The New Vision, Red Pepper, Kamunye etc. and he displayed all he knows about you on the canvas of heavens for everyone to see, how many of us would get out of our houses?
There are two agents that have real data of who you are and these are:
(a) God and
(b) Your Heart (Jeremiah 17:9-10).
We should stop preaching the GOSSIP of am better than you, start doing as I do and we start preaching the GOSPEL of we are all sinners in need of help and our help can only come from above.
I must also emphasize in conclusion two important truths:
1. The help we get from heaven is one that helps a sinner overcome one’s sin but that doesn’t mean the sinner won’t fall in other ways. Just because you are not adulterous, it doesn’t mean you aren’t a thief. The problem is when those who have overcome adultery are ganging up to stone the thieves (John 8:1-7).
2. Secondly, the Gospel is the good news that continuous sinners who believe Jesus Christ will be covered by the righteousness of God to be saved for eternal purposes. This righteousness of God stays with them as long as they believe and not as long as they contribute to it by their religious gymnastics (Romans 3:19-26).
