A certain individual asked me this question in my inbox.
Question: Who is the antichrist? Where is he and how can I avoid him?
This was my response: (please read at least twice)
An anti-Christ is a power opposed to Jesus Christ. Satanism (sin personified) is the anti-Christ. Those who are directly opposed to Jesus Christ without any former relationship whatsoever with divinity and, therefore, no probability to convert to God, are the anti-Christ. If Satan (sin personified) ever had a relationship with God, and just fell from it, God would have asked him to confess his fall and choose otherwise and he (Satan) would have been forgiven into eternity. But Satan (Sin personified) is naturally opposed and an opponent to God. It is not what he (Satan/Sin personified) does but who he is.
We cannot point to fellow human beings as anti-Christ since humanity fell from a former relationship with divinity and however sinful and evil they are, there is a chance to reconcile with their God (2Corinthians 5:16-21). It’s only Satan (Sin personified) who is an Anti-Christ because for him he has never had a relationship with divinity originally and from the beginning, he was destined to hell (John 17:12, 2Thesolonians 2:3). No human being is destined for hell until he dies before choosing Christ.
The word “ANTI” as used in 1John 2:18 is a Greek word that means permanently opposed to an idea, person, etc. It is not an emotion but a standard attitude. Divinity and evil have permanently opposed natures.
That is who Satan is to God or Christ. No living human being can be categorized so. People are just fallen and can be restored if they choose to. The people who will end up in eternal hell (who are not determined yet) will be anti-Christ by choice and not by nature as Satan is.
Jews thought pagan gentiles like the Romans who were their oppressors were the anti-Christ (antikristoi) and to the Jews, these gentiles were primarily anti-Christ majorly because of their tribes. Note that the concept is still covered here, they were considered anti-Christ because of WHO they are before WHAT they believed or did.
When Christ came, he healed their (GENTILES) children and associated with them. Today, there are teachers of prophecy and written books pointing at individuals such as the Catholic Pope, the queen of England, the president of the United States of America, the richest and most talented (sports, music industry etc.) as the anti-Christ but all these are people Christ died for.
These individuals are not the anti-Christ despite their wrong beliefs and evil acts they do under the systems they operate under. Jesus could not die on the cross for an anti-Christ.
A person does not qualify to be anti-Christ because of their wrong beliefs or because of the evil they do.
God has no permanent enemies and no permanent friends in the living volitional humans. God has an unchangeable permanent enemy in Satan (sin personified) and while God forgives human sinners of every sinning, he fights the element known as SIN (read Satan) for that is the anti-Christ.
Allow me to be audacious enough and tell you that; your religion is anti-Christ but you can right now choose to denounce it, believe Jesus Christ to have saved you by grace alone through faith and die a permanent friend to God.
It is religions and other systems that are often anti-Christ but not the people in them. They are antiChrist because they pose as the way, the truth and the life yet only Christ is (John 14:6-7). However, these cults and systems have God’s people and these are the ones we preach to and labour for so that they exit (in belief and practice), Jeremiah 51:45, Revelation 18:4.
This is why Jesus said in John 10:16 that:
I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd (John 10:16 NIV).
God has his sheep in all these wrong religions and he wants them out or these religions and systems out of them.
Your problem is not your religion or the institution you work in, or the car and whatever you use that has a devilish sign, your problem is your belief (your conviction) that it is the right way. Your problem is calling and recruiting others to it or through it and not to God directly and him alone.
Not anyone (humanity) who has the potential and possibility to believe in Christ is an Anti-Christ regardless of the systems they subscribe to. God has people in all these cults we know as mainstream religions and to those he calls out.
No living human being qualifies to be an anti-Christ until they die to qualify as permanent enemies (antikristoi) or permanent friends to God.
