THE INSANITY OF THE LAW: A PASTOR’S ANALYSIS OF THE LUSANJA QUANDARY

I am a preacher of righteousness by Grace through faith and not by works through the law. It is the true gospel as it is presented in the sacred scriptures of the library known as the Bible. Every day of my existence, I receive justifications for my belief in the sobriety of Grace and my disbelief in the law as the solution from my personal experiences and the experiences of other people.

Just this week (14-20 of October 2018), a rich man demolished structures, and destroyed over 300 households, turning established families into refugees. As I type this, these people are being fed like foreigners; they are displaced, hurt and apparently helpless and hopeless.

As we imagine how ruthless this rich man was to exile citizens within their country, it is surprising to know that the brother acted within the law. Court bailiffs with a court order legally knocked down the houses of people in Lusanja village. The pain of these people was induced by law enforcers, within the law, through a jurisdiction of a judge. While houses were crumbling down, and property was being destroyed, the rule of law was hailed. The helpless-homeless people right now in Lusanja who are being fed like fugitive foreigners and refugees are fruits of a well-observed law.

The president visited this place and he was overwhelmed by the scene of the law (not crime), he pleaded with landowners not to treat occupants of their land in this manner. Legally the president was out of order because the rich man implemented the authority vested to him by the law of the republic. The insanity of the law again dictated that the fountain of honour was also helpless to do a thing about this apart from becoming a philanthropist. Really!!!

Now let us look at the actors in this practically evil deed of the law.

THE RICH MAN:

First was the rich man who bought an inhabited land and was not willing co-exist with the occupants but still bought the land anyway. Why would you buy the land with a pre-meditation to hurt the powerless because you are powerful? I will tell you why; it is because of THE LAW OF POWER which is best appreciated in the lens of THE LAW OF THE JUNGLE (survival for the fittest). Kill all the inferior species and to maintain the so-called superior species. Unless the rich and powerful among the powerless and poor stop observing the law of power, the peasants will always suffer. The rich and powerful among us ought to understand how insane the law of power is and not obey it.

THE JUDGE:

Then there was his worship the Judge. Let us apply the benefit of the doubt, that the ruling was not in the first place financially influenced, and say that; the judge followed all the evidence and issued a court order based on pure and proper legal premises. Isn’t it insane justice to displace over 300 homes and award the land to one individual? Shouldn’t the Judges always go on the ground before they rule; and make some investigations to inform their ruling? Well, I am told the law is blind and that is why we peasants should keep our eyes wide open to guide and redirect this blind snake away from us.

THE COURT BAILIFFS:

These are aggressive law enforcers with all the machinery to break, demolish, hurt-if necessary and forcefully implement the law. I think the courts of law should replace court human-bailiffs with robots-bailiffs. I do not see how a human being does not think twice as he demolishes a house of another human being with all its property inside. I do understand the idea that they are doing their job, but what kind of job are you really doing. Isn’t it true that what we call OUR JOB is far distanced from REALITY? I personally hold these court bailiffs accountable for the pain of these people. As we do our jobs, ladies and gentlemen, we must ensure that we are not institutionalized to the extent of losing touch with our humanness.

In military institutionalization, you are supposed to act and ask later; policemen and military guys will beat even the protesters who are asking the government to raise the wages of the military. I think we shouldn’t have people in our communities and social institutions who are depersonalized and motivated by unquestioning obedience. Most people in the pursuit of money have been deliberately processed, reprogrammed and have become heartless enough to accept and conform to the irrational will and desires of those willing to pay.

I understand you are doing your job; but what exactly are you doing? What is the cost of getting the job done? Why would we build castles on human bones and blood? Friends, just because it is legal, it doesn’t mean it is the reality. The law is for the insane, sane people know what to do, when and how. The Bible says: As for the law, it entered tangentially in order to intensify transgression. Where sin increased, grace increased even more. (Romans 5:20 MIT). The law intensifies sinning by breeding LEGAL SINNERS. God has never said that there are bad and good sinners, they are all sinners who should repent their sins and in need of forgiveness. We must remember that PEOPLE MATTER, not even People’s Power matter than the people themselves. We cannot continue sacrificing PEOPLE to save PROPERTY in the name of the law. God holds the rich man, the Judge and the Court Bailiffs accountable for the loss and pain of the people of Lusanja.

God bless you I invoke TRUTH, REASON and FAITH (2Tim 2:7)
