I have a question; why do we continue to crucify Jesus? Looking around, all ones sees are projections or rather representations of His suffering, and nothing of his resurrection. I mean we all love happy endings but this one seems to have been utterly neglected. Why do we have to continuously dwell on the sorrow of his crucifixion than the Joy of his resurrection?
You absolutely have a point. But have you ever run into a movie at its end? Wouldnt you want to rewind it and pick the script from the start.?
The resurrection is very confusing without the cross. We emphasise the Cross not because we assume resurrection was a small thing in the event but because the significance of the resurrection is in the emphasis of the DEATH.
the cross communicates two essential messages that give credence to the wonder of resurrection and these are :
- An Incarnate eternal God died
- He died in the body therefore and without sin but died a vicarious death.
For such a death to happen without a resurrection is doom but the resurrection without such a death is equivalent to that of Lazarus (John 11).
So we really appreciate and celebrate the resurrection (happy ending) but as you may know… There is no crown without a former cross and at the inauguration speech, it happens that the season of the cross has a bigger part in the body of the speech.
However, the RESURRECTION is what restored all the authority back to its rightful owner. Yahweh (Mathew 28:18).
And while the cross is the ultimate solution to our sins, the resurrection is the ultimate solution to our Death… (ONLY THOSE WHO BELIEVE)
God bless you.
