WHAT IS YOUR NET WORTH?

Now the sons of Eli were worthless men; they had no regard for the LORD (1Sa 2:12 RSV)

Our world is a world of worth. Population classification is based on nothing else but net worth. That could be quantified or qualified. Trent Hamm says: “In a nutshell, your net worth is really everything you own of significance (your assets) minus what you owe in debts (your liabilities). Assets include cash and investments, your home and other real estate, cars or anything else of value you own. Liabilities are what you owe on those assets — including car loans, your mortgage, and student loan debt.” When many people are told of a net worth we all tend to look at it from the perspective of materialism and finances.

The scripture that we are looking at, says: the sons of Eli were worthless? The Hebrew word translated as worthless is BELIAL….which mean something of absolutely no value by all standards in all times and places. I was wondering why the Bible gives such an esteem to living human beings. And before I asked; the Bible gave me an answer and a reason.

These two men were worthless because: THEY HAD NO REGARD TO THE LORD. Friends, I do not have to debate this with anyone. It doesn’t matter how educated you are, how rich, how powerful and authoritative, how influential, How religious and spiritual, what celebrity you are, how beautiful and energetic or even physically healthy you are. If you don’t know the Lord and honor him not both as your creator and redeemer, savior and Lord, all that you have and are (net worth) is not your real net worth but liabilities.

Your true net worth is in your Knowledge and relationship with the one true God. Scientists and Atheists might be brilliant, morally good people and innovative geniuses of this world, but the Bible esteems them as fools for they say there is no God (Psalm 14:1). It doesn’t matter how much you are enjoying life and all its pleasures, if you don’t know God; you are a living dead and that is your Net worth. The Bible says: _But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth._ (1Timothy 5:6 KJV).

Friends, if you believe Jesus Christ, stop looking yourself down and stop being intimidated by those whose net worth is great according to the standards of the world but squarely liabilities according to the standards of Heaven. You are not just greater than they in the Lord but absolutely incomparable with the Belials of this world.

When Jews praised John the Baptist as the greatest spiritually and actually in all things, Jesus told them that if Heaven had a least person in it, that least individual would be greater than the greatest of the world. Friends, we THE CHRISTIANS OF THIS WORLD…have a net worth of not any other thing but that of GOD HIMSELF. _For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver. But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot_: (1Pe 1:18-19 KJV)

Stop reducing your goals and dreams to the greatness of belials. Dream and target bigger. Your net worth is God. Perhaps am sounding as a mediocre to the Belial-Greatness Oriented, but am telling you, the Great of our world esteem it empty when they get there. Raise the bar and don’t be a worthless individual with too much materialism.

God bless you I invoke TRUTH,
