Not one of all the good promises which the LORD had made to the house of Israel had failed; all came to pass. (Joshua 21:45)_
God took Abraham from wherever he was and took him to Canaan. He promised him many children and those promises came to pass.
Jacob took the children of Abraham out of Canaan and transacted them for food in Egypt and because God had promised Abraham, he (God) used Moses and delivered his people out of the slavery. He promised them a land of their own, he led them through the wilderness, they disobeyed again and again until they consequentially died in the wilderness.
All those who came out of Egypt including the top leader Moses died in the wilderness but the promise of God never died. While in the wilderness, they had children and often made prayer requests for their daily needs and challenges but when you observe how God answered their daily prayer requests you realize that God has not changed ever since. God deals with his people based on his word and promises.
What I am going to say to you is something that we are about to disagree, but it is what the Lord has asked me to tell you. And here it is: The answers to our prayer requests are grounded in the promises of God.
It is important for us to understand that God’s providence is a division of *Special Divine Providence* (SDP) and *General Divine Providence* (GDP). It is under the divine general providence that even those who do not pray are materialistically blessed sometimes even more than those who pray and serve in the church. (Psalm 73:3)
GDP is the blessing of creation, it where God takes care of his creation. The universe is blessed and those who understand how it works and the principles of success, the universe rewards and they prosper.
Those who do not or actually refuse to operate within the precepts of progress get stuck and miserable. We are all blessed with the same hours, same day, same night, talents, resources, same oxygen, etc, how we choose to use these under the general divine providence determines our growth materialistically.
However, there is SDP. This is exclusive to those who have entered a covenantal relationship with God the creator and redeemer. This providence is based on the relation-SHIP of man and his God.
In this relation-SHIP God is the Captain and man is the passenger. The providence of God in this category is based on two fundamental factors:
1- Mission and 2-Promises. If you are agreed to board the ship going to the north, however much you pray that the ship turns to the south it will not turn, the only option you have is to board-off, but the ship will continue to the North. Many died in the wilderness but Canaan remained the goal and destination.
On this relation-SHIP, you are free to ask whatever you want (John 14:13, 15:7, Mathew 7:7-11) as long as your prayer-requests are within the PROMISE and not MISSION altering.
Once you recognize God as your father, you have handed over the authority of determining what is FIT for you to him? Or what man of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? (Mathew 7:9-10). The fathers of these Israelites we see in Canaan once prayed that they are returned to Egypt…remember?
Here we are in Canaan and all the promises have come to pass, but some people he promised all these to, are already dead.
They prayed but they prayed outside the mission and promises of God (James 4:3) yet they were on the relation-SHIP of God. Take some step back and re-evaluate two things: 1-the promises and mission of God on your life and 2-your current prayer requests. Are they matching? You are free to ask for whatever you want, but if God still respects the covenant of faith between you and him, he might not give you the serpent you call fish in your prayers. I hope am understood.
That is where a victorious prayer life lies. Victory in prayer is not always in getting what you asked for, victorious prayers are those that give clarity on what you are fasting and praying for but don’t really understand. Victors subject and confine their objectives and resolutions within the Promises and mission of God. When asked to teach us how to pray he begun with OUR FATHER= covenantal relation-SHIP….and the second thing he said was: THY KINGDOM COME= mission and then he said: THY WILL BE DONE= Promise. Mathew 6
when faced with a challenge he prayed: THIS IS WHAT I WANT…BUT WHAT I WANT IS SUBJECT TO WHAT YOU WANT…Mathew 26:29
I hope victors click
