This picture is of a house close to our offices. I have not met the owner and I share this without permission, with the assumption that he/she (owner) wanted us (world) to know that while others might serve other gods, he and his family will serve the lord.
As someone reading Deuteronomy, this sent me back to chapter 6 verse 9:
And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates
Just opposite this house is an Indian house whose gods we can all guess. Isn’t this a testimony already?
I do encourage this spirit and commend it. We humans are visual and symbolic as well. The stickers on our vehicles say much about us. When people enter our living rooms what do they read on those walls?
What do they see? Well you and your beautiful wife and children are all over, favorite band, perhaps the ABC charts, or world map, or the Kabaka, Pope, pastor/prophet, or Or President Museveni. All Good but is it all that IMPORTANT?
I still think we can change the inscription on our walls and gates as CHRISTIANS and avoid idol and icon worship.
We can hang, on our walls, scriptures that teach that there is:
- ONE GOD
- ONE SAVIOR
- ONE FAITH
- ONE GOSPEL, and
- One way to heaven.
We can hang our Bibles on the walls too, just like we do for celebrities, sports stars, pornography, artistic impressions, fashion and style, etc.
We should not wait until a half-hand (just like in the book of Daniel) writes on our wall. We should write on the wall ourselves, and hang on it he who hang on the cross for us. Not his image (idol worship), but his word.
Now let me go and make some changes on these walls of mine.
