BECAUSE OF YOU

Deuteronomy 1:37 The Lord was angry with me also on your account, and said, you also shall not go in there

Deuteronomy 3:26 But the Lord was angry with me because of you and would not hearken to me; and the Lord said to me let it suffice you, speak no more to me on this matter

Deuteronomy 4:21-22 Furthermore the Lord was angry with me because of you and he swore that I should not cross the Jordan and that I should not enter the good land which the Lord your God gives you for an inheritance. For I must die in this land, I must not go over the Jordan; but you shall go over and take possession of that good land.

What is this? Is this a blame game like one we saw in Genesis 3 (between Adam and Eve)? Is this a leader who doesn’t want to take responsibility for his failures and giving people pressure as an excuse? What exactly is Moses saying (if the phrase was really part of his speech)?

I don’t care how you look at it, but in this world, there are things we suffer BECAUSE OF OTHERS. There are things we have lost because of someone, opportunities missed because of.

Uganda has a high number of H.I.V positive primary and high school teenagers courtesy of the choices of their parents. Siblings are fighting each other because of what someone said.

People injure, kill and die because of others. Many people die during travel, plane crashes and others are killed because of the carelessness of one driver/pilot.

Uganda has 40M people that suffer or probably have to prosper because of the 400,000 civil servants. If one government official is corrupt and steals and spends public funds on himself, roads will crumble, sewage will leak everywhere (including a hospital entrance), and the economy collapses.

I don’t know how much more I can say about this but we know of people who have lost their careers, jobs, marriages, loved ones inclusive BECAUSE OF SOMEONE.

Moses and the Israelites teach us a fundamental lesson. We could be ISRAELITES upon which the successful MOSESs of our community stumble and fail, or we could be the kind of Moses who take for granted what people could do to our destiny.

The marrieds here do understand what the choices and actions of others mean to them.

BECAUSE OF YOU, am either successful or have failed.
