WHAT IS THE TRUE PURPOSE OF LIFE?

The World’s System of identifying one’s Purpose of Life is informed by and founded on an Aristotelian publication entitled NICOMACHEAN ETHICS in which he articulates his ergon theory. To reword its subject matter, this theory states that:

The purpose of X is in its virtue and its virtue is its characteristic function.

For example, the purpose of the knife is in its SHARPNESS since sharpness makes it function: i.e., to CUT. The purpose of an eye is in its GOOD FOCUS since good focus makes it function i.e. to SEE.

In other words, by this perspective, your purpose/my purpose is to work (depending on what is characteristic of you) in order to fulfil your function i.e., to achieve; change things for the better, transform living, reduce suffering, be recognised and suchlike.

For example, the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), following this philosophy, has embarked on a new research entitled: THE DEATH OF DEATH! They are predicting that by 2040, death would no longer have to be among human problems!

This philosophy, however, was observed as lacking on the following question thus:

After you have/I have achieved Y, then what? Is that all? If after you’ve done your purpose, should you end in death? Isn’t it worth continuing your purpose?

This catapulted us to another view of my/your PURPOSE in LIFE.

The Christian View.

The Christian view of one’s purpose of life is Worship. This Worship is founded on and informed by the major worldview questions namely:

1. WHO AM I? (Identity)
2. WHERE DID I COME FROM? (Origin)
3. WHAT IS WRONG? (Problem)
4. WHAT IS RIGHT? (Solution)

THEREFORE:

Created by GOD in the image of GOD, having originated from GOD (Life) in the beginning, corrupted and robbed of life by SIN (death) and so GOD having dealt with this SIN through His own DEATH, your purpose/my purpose is living/to live eternally in, through, with and for this GOD eternally.

So your/my PURPOSE may depend on whether you have believed in this only Great God and Saviour JESUS CHRIST or not.

2W’s: (a) W work. (b) W worship.

If you have not believed in this GOD; work a lot, achieve as much as you can, enjoy to the fullest and die forever.

On the other hand, if you have believed in this GOD, work diligently, achieve a lot to share your achievements with your neighbour, and enjoy to the fullest with your neighbour and go to sleep in order to wake up for eternity.
