This article was inspired by Margret Yawe’s comical question:
Someone asked me why trainee Pastors at Bible Colleges need an invigilator when writing exams. I am still thinking 🤔!?
Well, I will answer you. Pastors need an invigilator too because the Bible is right. All have fallen short of the glory of God.
We are all sinners. And this includes your pastor, your prophet who goes to heaven often, your pastor dressed in white, and your theologian. Even the holy Pope is as impure as you and I.
We all need the grace of God. We all need the help of God. Some of us have tried to obey the law and have failed, others are still trying but still deep down in their hearts they know they have failed, at least before God.
Am not accusing any saint here, I am just taking my side and that is the side of sinners in need of help, not accomplished saints.
Pastors are sinners that God uses to organise their fellow sinners.
Listen to me my friend, in school I used to be a class monitor and a prefect. Even at the University, I was a guild president. All this was because I was a well behaved boy.
However, throughout all that experience, I never sat a different exam paper because of my moralism and neither was I graded differently. I was punished just like any other student for not scoring like the teacher expected.
This is what I learnt: On Earth we might be better than others, we might even be awarded ranks and offices for obeying the law, we might impress our teachers (religious doctrines, goals etc) after all every religion has its standards.
But before God, we sit for the same exam and fail and all we are left with is to BELIEVE JESUS CHRIST who has obeyed all on our behalf, died on the cross for us and resurrected for us.
Will you believe Jesus Christ today?
