Numbers 21:34-35 But the LORD said to Moses, “Do not fear him; for I have given him into your hand, and all his people, and his land; and you shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon. So they slew him, and his sons, and all his people, until there was not one survivor left to him; and they possessed his land.
In this wilderness, where kings of all kinds are we need a strategy. There are Edomite kings, Canaanite kings, Amorite kings, Moabites and so on. Two things are sure.
1. They are anxious to attack not to negotiate.
2. You may decide to turn away or fight.
In chapter 20, the Israelites turned away when Edomites refused them to go through their land.
In chapter 21, they decided to fight and take the land by force. May I ask now:
Is it true that in this wilderness, however meek you may be,you must sometimes fight if you are to take possession of your pursuit to happiness? How do I know I should only turn away?
Let me talk to someone in the wilderness of this flesh like me. Are their wars of the flesh you’ve warred against for ages but to no avail? May be lust, greed, gluttony, masturbation, homosexuality, stinginess, arrogance, hatred, tribalism, hypocrisy and suchlike are some of the kings taking that have taken you captive (Numbers 21:1).
Take your plea to GOD,the LORD who topples kings. Victory belongs to GOD, victory belongs to HIM; not you.
Amen.
