key Verse 6: None of you shall approach anyone near of kin to him to uncover nakedness
Last year I made an audio presentation about the issue of incestuous relations. If you need to listen to it please WhatsApp +256-793-822833.
We are all human beings, same flesh, same blood and sometimes different skin colours. Our relationships with one another begin at the point of biology and that is what incest is concerned with. We are not to sexually relate with those to whom we are linked to biologically.
This biology is not just restricted to those we share a DNA with but even those who are under the same family tree.
In my culture, it alright to marry your cousin but according to the word of God, it is not alright. I surely don’t know whether the law of incest was a Hebrew cultural notion of God’s agenda.
The Baganda culture is one of the most organised cultures that I know, and I like the way they break and segment themselves. It is Buganda, then Balangila and Bakopi, then ebika, then emiziro, emituba, down to a household. I am not sure am accurate with the order but my point here is that – It is that difficult to have incestuous relations in the Baganda culture.
Many cultures have mixed blood but God is opposed to this.
In my family, there is a lady who is my sister at the same time a wife to my uncle.
In some cultures, fathers have children with their children and lots of madness. God wants all of us to be sensitive to this issue.
Incest is a sin and abomination to the God who respects the concept of Family. Incest is antagonistic to the divine-setting of bio-ethics. Relatives should not exercise sex, it is an abomination.
