Dear Kenyans,
Our National Anthem begins with the words “Oh God of all Creation.” We feel that it is important to reflect the realities of Kenya today in the wording of the National Anthem. Not all Kenyans believe in the existence of a God. Removing ‘God’ from the Kenyan National anthem would make the anthem be inclusive. Kenya is a secular state. By removing ‘God’ from the National Anthem, we will promote secularism in Kenya . This would keep church and state separate in line with Article 8 of the Constitution. This petition will be presented to the Speaker of the National Assembly.

My response:
I quote: “THE WORD ‘GOD‘ Disenfranchises Atheists from this unified ideal”
Now at iTiS we have always endeavoured to help people in the business of THINKING and as far as am concerned there are three types of THINKING:
1- Logical Thinking (reasoning rationally)
2- Critical Thinking (reasoning with self)
3- Strategic Thinking (reasoning way out/problem solving).
Now in case you want to know each extensively ….please come to the fellowship this Saturday and ask….but as for this topic about atheists in Kenya against the word GOD in their national anthem….let me categorise this kind of reasoning under the first type: Logical Thinking and I demonstrate to you the flaws.
1- The argument is against the word not what it represents….in a sense they have no problem with what the word represents (BELIEF SYSTEM)…but the word. Now this means that Atheists are inclusive and coherent with the principle of FREEDOM OF WORSHIP you can believe whatever you want as long as you do not tag it on a national banner on which I (as an atheist) belong. So the national anthem can mean (philosophy) God as long as it has not mentioned God (word).!!! If the word is removed, is FREEDOM OF WORSHIP represented….if it remains is it?
2-The argument is against one extreme to create another extreme. If atheists feel misrepresented by the word God (since they don’t believe in a God)…what makes them think the same national Anthem without the word God, will represent other Kenyans with a belief in a God?
Now, these are logical fallacies that can be solved by another type of THINKING known as: STRATEGIC THINKING.
Kenyans should look for
