On the 21st July 2016 my uncle (Mwunvaneza) was shot dead in South Sudan, and I have joined those who have been victimized by the war in South Sudan. Please Join me ladies and gentlemen to pray for South Sudanese and all the relatives all over the world to these beautiful people. As a pastor I condemn all the atrocities happening in the youngest state in the world. However allow me to analyse the problem from a major not just the big picture. All the commentary about this nation will be just but a big picture but not a major picture. Few after all have the capacity to see this. Let me demonstrate…if South Sudan has 64 tribes and it is only the Dinkas and Nuels causing problems…why are the 62 tribes silent and being victimized by the egos of the two? I will tell you why. It is because it is the two who have all the guns…dominant in all National institutions…and in power. This how the problem of South Sudan is a problem of most Nations …the difference is that South Sudan has an uneducated aggressiveness. Let me now present to you categorically the problems in South Sudan:
BELLIGERENT TRIBALISM
The problems of South Sudan can be many from different worldviews and perspective and here is mine. south Sudan is suffering from what I call a BELLIGERENT TRIBALISM… You see, as i have always emphasized, our WORLD has three enemies:
POVERTY
RELIGION
TRIBALISM
and we can see all this most especially tribalism at work in south Sudan right now between the dominant tribes the Dinkas and the Nuels.
South Sudans are suffering from the same problem all mult-ethenic countries are suffering however the difference is in the psychological make-up of the Sudans. They are a very aggressive lot.
Having studied in a university (Bugema University) that had more ethnic groups than any other university in Uganda and me being their Guild President…I first hand witnessed who south Sudanese are. All I can say is that they are: PEOPLE WHO SHOOT AND AIM…and they are people WHOSE HEAD GETS COMMANDS FROM THE BODY AND NOT THE REVERSE.
They are not bad people they are just like the Rwandan Hutus and Ugandan Bakigas…they are not bad people, they are just different…just aggressive and belligerent.
South Sudan is a country where a major war is triggered by a Facebook post.
GULLIBILITY
The second problem south Sudan is suffering from is that it is a gullible society. It is suffering from a special ignorance that is due to its conditioning… 30yrs of civil law…low levels of education and minimal elites within the country and majority outside the country and worst of to such a gullible society it has two things in its possession : resources and guns.
For south Sudan and Sudanese to be the youngest nation but have oil and guns is like giving a TEENAGER access to BILL GATES BANK ACCOUNT. You don’t know what this adolescent will do next with such money and such power.
South Sudanese tall as they are and fighters as they be are poor workers and economically helpless lots. While their psychology responds quick to war and crisis….they are non-responsinve to constructive work and that is why majority foreigners were in every corner of that country doing all sorts of work including building toilets.
They are so economically disoriented that they cannot even afford bargaining as they purchase goods…there was a time all merchants wanted to sell to Sudanese because them alone just dashed out money…as you asked for it. Why was this so? It was so because the government was giving dollars to these citizens in exchange to their national resources….
Because of this gullible and ignorant young country older states are taking advantage of its childish reactions and concerns and it is ripping it off of its wealth… By the time these older nations (USA through UN, Uganda, Germany, etc did you se e how many countries had people there? But why? #Think) they are done with it, this poor young teenager will have wasted of both its potential and resources over 60% and it will have 40% to live by.
POLITICAL OPPORTUNISTS
This country also suffers from the opportunistic surrounding nations. That want to take advantage of its infancy and stupidity and shape it to their interests…can you imagine all nations more so super powers are interested in this nation!!! Almost every nation had people in South Sudan and one wonders what they were doing there. Poor South Sudanese think that killing foreigners is a solution, little do they know that they themselves are foreigners in there.
WAY FORWARD
Personally I have four radical solutions to this:
1-it should be emphasized that South Sudan is bigger and more important than Salva kir and Riak Machar …in fact to me both of these men are creations and instruments of other opportunistic states…so both should live (die) or at least one should die….or one should quit politics in favor of the other be exiled…for good. But with these two men…and the influential forces behind each…we shouldn’t expect peace.
2-Donald Trump said: “Africa should be recolonised for there is no shortcut to maturity.” I don’t agree with Trump on making it an African therapy but I think RECOLONISATION applies to countries like South Sudan…they need help.
3-Just like Uganda has a MUSEVEN south Sudan needs a resurrection of another GARANG. A soldier who knows when to use a gun and when to use an ideology. Some how some where when this man (Garang) was alive there was some unity in South Sudan and the country was systematically moving towards a goal…but now it has lost campus.
4-THEY NEED JESUS CHRIST TO TEACH THEN LOVE AND CIVILITY
Politically, they need a one Garang to take them 30 straight years like museven has done to Uganda to heal it from its history. I don’t care whether that Garang is politically made…south Sudan needs and misses a Garang. I think the former Garang died because some forces were not comfortable with a stable custodian of a store they want to robe.
That is me and my thoughts….what is yours?
Meanwhile… Please pray and help south Sudanese in anyway possible.
